By DANIEL TRAN

MELBOURNE was still reeling from its early January heatwave when a teenager allegedly lit a grass fire in Ashwood over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the Gardiner Creek Trail near Warrigal Road at 9.45pm on Saturday to extinguish the blaze.

Police charged an 18-year-old Ashwood woman at the scene with intentionally causing a bushfire and endangering life

She was bailed and will appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on April 29.
