VNL: Peninsula Waves start with a win

Peninsula Waves got their Victorian Netball League season off to a winning start with a 42-41 win over Boroondara Genesis in the opening round of matches on Wednesday night. Monash University Central, which lost out in last year’s preliminary final, had a rough start, losing to Southern Stars 44-33 while a much-improved Yarra Valley Ariels gave Geelong a 60-38 thumping. Round two begins at the State Netball and Hockey Centre at Parkville this Wednesday night.
