THE red carpet, lights and stage were set as the OSCA Awards rolled in to Melbourne’s south east to celebrate the career and educational achievements of the area’s young people.
Dandenong-based South East Local Learning and Employment Network (SELLEN) hosted the inaugural Outstanding Student Career Achievement (OSCA) Awards at Berwick Secondary College’s Performing Arts Centre on Monday evening.
SELLEN, a vital networking group within Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia’s educational landscape, helps young people stay in education through various channels and alternative programs.
Monday’s OSCA Awards celebrated SELLEN’s success stories, with six young achievers who had already received prestigious awards over the past 12 months recognised for their excellence within the region.
In theme with the awards, SELLEN hired catering company Celebration Catering, which specialises in training local residents in food handling.
It also called upon Berwick Secondary College’s Go Girls crew.
The Go Girls is part of the school’s Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) program and helped serve food and run the evening.
Master of Ceremonies was Carolyn Elizabeth, played by TAFE drama teacher Karen Dymke.
The character was an eccentric socialite with two beautiful assistants, and provided an Academy Awards-style presentation for the evening.
