Sex shop shotgun raid

A MAN bearing a sawn-off shotgun raided an adult bookshop in Dandenong on Tuesday afternoon.
Frankston’s Embona Taskforce is investigating the incident and is appealing for witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Peter Sterling said a man entered the Robinson Street shop at 3.20pm.
He said the man produced a sawn-off shotgun from beneath his clothing and threatened the 28-year-old female shop assistant, forcing her to hand over cash.
The shop assistant handed the man a small amount of cash before he fled from the bookshop and headed off in an unknown direction.
There were no injuries and a police helicopter was called in to conduct an aerial search for the man.
Police had no luck and are now appealing to the public to help identify the man.
He is described as 170 centimetres tall, of medium build, about 30-years-old and at the time was wearing a white cap, white top, jeans and runners.
Police said he appeared to be tanned.
Det Sgt Sterling said the Embona Taskforce did not believe the robbery was part of a crime pattern, and were concerned that the man was carrying such a dangerous weapon.
“It is obvious by the fact he was using a sawn-off shotgun that the offender is desperate for cash,” Det Sgt Sterling said.
He said while there were no physical injuries, the shop assistant had been left traumatised.
“I can assure you that the female attendant was absolutely terrified, and quite rightly so.”
Anyone with information should contact Detective Senior Constable Craig Small at Frankston Embona Taskforce on 9784 5535, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
