ALL Dandenong District Cricket Association and Victorian Sub District Cricket Association matches were cancelled on Saturday morning due to ground availability.
The VSDCA issued a short note on its website saying reports from clubs and councils showed a “large number of grounds were unavailable” after rain on Friday and early on Saturday morning. Mount Waverley told the Weekly its ground, Mt Waverley Reserve, was ready for matches but with grounds in other parts of Melbourne deemed unfit for the play the VSDCA called off all matches.
The DDCA also cancelled all play on Saturday and Sunday and will meet tonight to decide the fate of matches in its turf grades.
A notice on the DDCA website said the full DDCA executive would make a decision on whether to reschedule the matches or abandon them. The clubs will be notified tomorrow of the outcome. All senior synthetic, one day and junior matches will be abandoned unless they were already forfeited.
