Student art bids for the unknown

STUDENTS from Noble Park Secondary College and St John’s Regional College in Dandenong are donating their art to a very special cause at an auction with a difference on 6 August.
Very Special Kids’ inaugural Art 4 Kids auction at the Malvern Town Hall will feature more than 150 works of high profile and budding young artists from around. The twist is that the artists will remain anonymous until after their artwork has been bought.
Very Special Kids’ CEO David Agnew said the mystery element will see successful bidders go home with either a future masterpiece or a painting by a renowned artist, for possibly well below its value.
All artwork will have a reserve of $200 and all proceeds will go to Very Special Kids.
More than 118 VCE art students and 40 renowned artists have donated their original oil and acrylic artwork to the unique art auction.
The St John’s Regional College students involved include Pier Ann Concepcion, Karina Fernandez and Robert Tissera.
The artists from Noble Park Secondary College are Natalie Vuong, Naroat Kriv, Sothear Thoeung and Shaista Wazi.
“We encourage all art lovers to come along to Arts 4 Kids, which promises to become an important event on Melbourne art and school calendars,” Mr Agnew said.
“Proceeds from this event will help Very Special Kids continue its work with the families in the Victorian community.’’
