ARTISTIC talent in all its forms was on display in Noble Park last week.
The annual Dandenong University of the Third Age (U3A) art show at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre on 16 September featured about 15 displays.
Oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, photography, embroidery, quilts, flowers, cards and more – all created in U3A classes – were on display.
The group’s publicity officer, Marie Whelan, said the event showed off the classes available.
The karaoke class and the choir were also represented.
“The choir is very active,” Ms Whelan said.
“It attends to all the senior citizens occasions and will be singing in Federation Square during the Victorian Seniors Festival.
“Some of them have been going almost 20 years. They’re so enthusiastic.”
Ms Whelan said the photography group in particular had great camaraderie and healthy competition.
“They go out together and take photos and try to outdo each other,” she said.
“That’s what it’s all about.”
Dandenong and District Historic Society president Chris Keys spoke about early Dandenong.
“And about what we can learn if we go down to their premises,” Ms Whelan said.
“She had a PowerPoint show with different photographs.
“Everybody could relate to it.”
