SANDOWN Lions donned their brightest outfits last week to roar their support for the gifts of sound and speech.
Loud Shirt Day, on Friday 18 October, encourages people to wear clothing that never usually leaves their wardrobes to raise money for First Voice.
It’s the national voice for organisations whose primary focus is providing listening and spoken language therapy services in Australia and New Zealand, and it champions the right of all deaf people to listen and speak.
Loud Shirt Day raises awareness as well as cash, helping to open the door to a life in the world of sound, opportunities for a full education, employment, social integration and the chance to contribute to the community.
The Sandown Lions couldn’t give financially to the cause, but roared the message loudly across the soccer field on Thursday 11 October when all players took part in a friendly soccer game wearing their loudest shirts.
