ORGANISERS of the Noble Park Community Art Exhibition have hailed the event a resounding success.
The art exhibit’s community focus was the winner early this month when the exhibition was opened to the public.
Local artists contributed 258 entries across Junior and Open sections with works ranging from sculptures to paintings.
The exhibition was hosted at the Noble Park Community Centre in Memorial Drive, Noble Park, and is in its fourth year.
Event coordinator Max Bartlett said judge Malcolm Webster was impressed with the artwork on show and the variety of styles.
Mr Bartlett said major sponsors included the RACV and Rotary Club of Springvale City.
Sponsors presented awards to Junior section winner Matthew McKinnon and Open section winner Rosemary Todman Parrant. Mr Bartlett said 250 people attended the exhibition over three days.
He said artists young and old mingled while a particularly impressive display by local secondary school students drew much attention.
“Creating particular interest were two displays of 3D works from the Noble Park English Language School with amazing wire sculptures and from Maranatha Christian School from Doveton a display of very colourful and creative hats,” he said.
“These displays gave the wider community the chance to see some of the creative work being produced within our educational systems.”
Noble Park Community Centre president Yvonne said she hoped that next year more school students would enter in the event and that experienced artists would again enjoy the community-focussed art show.
Public is drawn to art
