Meeting to give traders insight into master plan

DANDENONG traders can expect an insight into the pending final version of the Urban Master Plan at the forthcoming meeting of the Dandenong Retail Traders Association.
Most of the contents have been discussed since the Minister for Major Projects released the draft plan on 26 April.
But there is still tremendous interest from the business community in the finalised plan.
At the October general meeting of the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association, VicUrban will report on the outcomes of the community consultation and the work being undertaken to prepare the Urban Master Plan for launch by the Minister.
The Tuesday 2 October meeting will be held in the President’s Room at the Grand At Dandenong, 139-155 Thomas Street, Dandenong, at 6pm.
Guest speakers will be VicUrban development director Michael King and senior development manager Fiona de Preu.
“The Urban Master Plan has caused much discussion within the retail sector of Central Dandenong and the final plan is eagerly awaited,” DRTA chairman Roy Aspinall said.
“On 2 October Michael King and Fiona de Preu will provide central Dandenong retailers with updated information in preparation for the release of the final plan by the minister.
“Anyone with an interest in the future of central Dandenong should make the effort to attend.
“All retailers are welcome at the general meeting, be they members or not, but we do hope that all retailers will eventually join.
“Attendance at the general meeting is a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow central Dandenong retailers.
“Tea and coffee is supplied and as well as our speakers there are normally Victoria Police members plus council representatives in attendance to provide information and for those present to discuss issues with.”
Mr Aspinall said general meeting commenced at 6pm and typically finished at 7.30pm, allowing retailers to attend after they close their business.
“Membership of the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association is a wonderful way to have a say in what happens in central Dandenong,” Mr Aspinall added.
“You need never again ask what is happening in Dandenong as most of those questions can be answered by attending the meetings or simply by being a member of the association.
“Remember that whether or not you live in Dandenong your living is here.”
