Police target milk bar fences

POLICE have seized $7000 of suspected stolen goods after executing a search warrant at another south eastern suburbs milk bar.
The latest seizure, in Chelsea Heights last week, was part of a police investigation into businesses dealing in stolen property.
Other recent searches have been carried out in Dandenong, Cranbourne, Carrum Downs, Frankston and Langwarrin.
Items seized have included deodorants, chocolate, chewing gum, tampons, condoms, throat lozenges and breath fresheners with a combined worth estimated at $60,000.
The Frankston Regional Response Unit’s (FRRU) Retail Theft Unit has carried out the investigation, known as Operation KAMME.
Acting Inspector Gary Allen said the unit would continue to target both recidivist thieves and retailers who traded in stolen property.
FRRU officer in charge Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Greenhill said he expected more search warrants to be executed in the coming weeks.
“Those businesses who deal in stolen property can expect a visit from the Retail Theft Unit very soon,” he said.
