Defence too tough for Noble Park

NOBLE Park’s first XI did not achieve the impossible on Saturday as Box Hill easily passed its meagre Victorian Sub District Cricket Association total of 133 with the loss of only one wicket, before finishing the day at 3/244.
Lance Baptist (1/33 from 14 overs) showed what he was capable of with the ball, while Rod Douthie took 2/34 with his spinners.
The club’s second XI had Box Hill 8/180 in reply to its total of 182, but was unable to get the last two wickets before the total was passed.
Lyle D’Rozario (3/49) was the best of the bowlers, while Kim Fitzpatrick (2/44), Dave Parker (2/38) and Andrew Borovac (2/41) were the other multiple wicket takers.
Meanwhile, half centuries to Andy Parker (66) and Darren Wilcox (52) were not enough for the Noble Park thirds to get over the line as they fell 12 runs short of Box Hill’s total of 218, dismissed for 206.
The fourth XI scored its first win for the season, dismissing Box Hill for 149 in reply to its total of 178.
Andrew Love claimed 4/5 from 6.1 overs and Kushan Athukorala took 3/16 from 15 overs.
