Open spaces for artists

CALLING all artists – entries are open for the 2008 Noble Park Community Art Show.
The show will be held at the Community Centre in Memorial Drive on 28 and 29 June.
Last year’s event fielded more than 220 works between junior and senior artists and organisers are promising that this year’s event will be even bigger.
Paintings can be presented in any media, from oils to watercolours, pastels to pencils and everything in between.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for both budding and established artists to prove that they are prize winning painters.
Organisers are this year allowing contestants under the age of 16 to enter free in a bid to encourage a bigger junior field.
Springvale North Ward councillor Alan Gordon will offer two cash Encouragement Awards as part of the prize pool.
Lyn Woodman, president of the Noble Park Community Centre, encouraged people to enter.
“After the great success of last year’s show we are looking forward to all parts of the community once again supporting this worthwhile event,” she said.
“The Noble Park Community Art Show is a great opportunity for all local artists to show the community what you can do, so with only a couple of months to go, all those who’d like to enter need to get busy.”
