GREATER Dandenong council has slashed the number of early voting days available to residents at this year’s election.
Residents in Keysborough and Springvale will now have just three days instead of six after the council voted to cut the number of days based on previous election figures that showed a decline in pre-poll usage.
A report to councillors also notes that the Dandenong office of the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) allows for pre-poll voting from as early as 29 October. Early voting will now take place from Wednesday 26 November to Friday 28 November between 9am and 5pm at the Dandenong and Springvale council offices, and Keysborough Senior Citizens Centre.
In addition to the centres, the VEC office at 119-123 Lonsdale Street will accept pre-poll voters from 29 October.
