FIREFIGHTERS saved surrounding houses from catching alight while combating a blaze in Keysborough last week.
Country Fire Authority crews from Springvale, Noble Park and Dandenong rushed to a home in Popes Road, Keysborough, at 7.20am on Monday 6 October.
CFA photographer and Dandenong volunteer Keith Pakenham said fire officer Paul Caligari coordinated the attack on the blaze and firefighters managed to save the rear of the house.
“The rear section was saved as was the other house on the same block of land,” he said.
“Fire-fighters were onscene for around 90 minutes while police blocked traffic in the area.”
The home’s owner was not home at the time of the blaze and police are now investigating its cause.
