GREATER Dandenong mayor and councillor of 15 years John Kelly will run for re-election in November.
The Dandenong plumber was previously undecided whether he would run for the new Silverleaf Ward, which includes his soon-to-be-abolished Dandenong North ward.
Cr Kelly said he was sure there would be party political candidates aiming to “knock him off”, but he would continue to support Greater Dandenong residents without prejudice. Cr Kelly spent three years as a City of Dandenong councillor before being elected to the amalgamated Greater Dandenong council where he has spent the last 12 years as Dandenong North Ward councillor.
“It’s been a fantastic experience and a great learning curve, I’ve met some fantastic people and enjoyed it immensely. ” Cr Kelly said.
“If I’m not successful, then, in the words of the great Ned Kelly, such is life.”
