NEW street lights are safely guiding drivers to Keysborough’s St Hoan-Thien Catholic Community Centre.
Keysborough MP Martin Pakula attended Mass at the centre on Sunday 3 April to celebrate the new lighting on the eastern central median on Hutton Road, east of Chapel Road.
He said the hundreds of people who drove to and from St Hoan-Thien had long been concerned about the absence of street lighting, particularly on dark and wet winter nights.
Mr Pakula said a 2012 crash resulted in serious injury and there had since been several near-misses.
“This lighting will significantly improve safety for local road users,” he said.
“I’ve listened to the St Hoan-Thien Catholic Community about the poor visibility at this location, and am pleased to help deliver this important road safety improvement .”
St Hoan-Thien Catholic Community vice-president Minh Hoang said he was very pleased to welcome Mr Pakula to the morning Mass.
“The new street lights have improved road safety for our community,” he said.
