THE plans for the new $9.5 million Springvale Police Station were unveiled last week on site at the Andrew Erickson Gardens.
The 24hour station will host the existing staff of 72, and includes a growth allowance for 17 more.
Police minister and Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding expected work to begin within two weeks and should be completed next October.
“It is a most impressive looking building and will feature stateoftheart facilities, which will be of great assistance to our local police.”
Vincent Chrisp Architects designed the complex with Victorian Police project director Cameron Eastman, who grew up in Springvale.
Mr Holding said the facility would help continue to strengthen the police presence in Springvale.
“This is great news for all residents and businesses in Springvale, who can feel more secure with the addition of extra police resources into our community.”
