New homes for computers

By Melissa Meehan
KEYSBOROUGH and Noble Park students will now enjoy their share of 464 computers to kick off the schooling year.
The federal Labor MP for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus, announced that $464,000 would be given to local schools as part of the Rudd Government’s commitment to provide new computers in secondary schools.
Under the National Secondary School Computer Fund, three schools in the local area will share the funding.
Mr Dreyfus said that it was important that students had access to new technology at school.
“This new technology will give these students the best opportunity to learn, and will make education more accessible as well as fun,” Mr Dreyfus said.
“The Rudd Government is delivering an education revolution, and a major part of that is giving our students the best technology available.”
The local schools to receive funding are Keysborough Secondary College ($317,000), Haileybury College ($118,000) and Noble Park English Language School ($29,000).
Keysborough Secondary College computer teacher Rob Barton said the computers would help students with their learning.
