POLICE are investigating a suspicious car fire in Springvale South early Thursday morning.
The white Toyota HiAce Commuter van was parked in the driveway of a home on Waddington Crescent when a loud explosion was heard around 12.25am.
The owner ran outside to find the van engulfed in flames and a small area of the garage on fire.
CFA attended and extinguished the blaze, which gutted the car and caused minor damage to the garage and contents.
A family was inside the house at the time, however no-one was injured.
The Arson Squad and chemical experts later examined the scene, along with detectives from the local CIU.
Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
