POLICE blocked off a section of Kidds Road in Doveton on Tuesday as sheriff officers joined Casey police for Operation CARE.
Operation CARE, which has been running since January, is aimed at targeting the amount of drivers committing criminal and traffic offences.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) told the News the sheriffs spoke to 17 people during the operation and executed 83 warrants, from 2pm to 7pm.
“They cleaned up a total value of $44,756.27 in outstanding fines,” he said. Police discovered three unlicensed drivers, five unregistered vehicles, two probationary drivers not carrying their licence with them and found five people driving with a suspended licence.
Police also issued four defect notices for unroadworthy vehicles.
Sen Const Inderwisch said police were happy with results from this week’s operation.
Operation CARE will run until March.
