A CFA rescue crew worked for 90 minutes to free a youth trapped in a car which had collided with a truck on the Monash Freeway at Dandenong yesterday (Wednesday).
Intensive care paramedics from Dandenong and advanced life support paramedics from Rowville were called to the freeway near Stud Road just after 3am yesterday.
The driver, 17, was trapped by the legs, with the dashboard and firewall of the car pushed forward onto him.
The passenger was walking around outside the car when paramedics arrived.
Mr Alexander said the youth was speaking to paramedics throughout the rescue operation, but was in great pain.
The driver was also given fluids through a drip to stabilise his blood pressure, which was dangerously low, and given a neck brace in case of potential spinal injuries.
The teenager had abdominal injuries, fractures to an arm and leg and possible internal bleeding.
After the driver was freed, he was treated by an intensive care flight paramedic as he was flown to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
