Stabbing probe

TRANSIT detectives are investigating a stabbing at the Springvale railway station at 5pm last Wednesday.
Police were told a male youth was on the Melbourne bound platform when five to six other males approached him.
Two teens on the platform went to assist the outnumbered youth.
A fight erupted and the two crusaders ended up being injured.
The combatants dispersed before police arrived on the scene.
The fight left a 16-year-old male with facial injuries. He was treated at the scene by ambulance crews.
A 17-year-old youth was stabbed in the chest and taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to the fight to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
