DANDENONG’S Fletchers Insulation is one of many insulation companies who will be impacted positively by the Federal Government’s $3.9 billion Energy Efficient Homes Package.
The package, which will provide ceiling insulation for around 2.7 million Australian homes, has forced Fletchers to put on extra shifts and extra workers to deal with the expected demand.
Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus along with Parliamentary Secretary for Government Service Delivery, Senator Mark Arbib visited the Dandenong Plant on Monday.
“This is a great boost for local economy,” Mr Dreyfus said.
“This is not a silver bullet – but the government’s decisive action will help to cushion workers from the worst effects of the global down turn,” Senator Arbib said.
Fletchers Insulation CEO David Isaacs said the company was ready to increase productivity, hire more staff and invest millions of dollars as a result.
“We’re about to put on extra staff to run the Dandenong manufacturing plant at full capacity,” he said.
“That means 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
He said Fletchers was also planning to invest in an upgrade of the Dandenong plant, which was expected to cost close to $8 million.
