THE first stage of the Greater Dandenong’s 200408 Community Plan has had mixed results.
The council aimed to encourage economic development by attracting and retaining business in Greater Dandenong.
The council achieved almost $376 million worth of building approvals during 200405, well above its goal of $220 million.
But community satisfaction with the overall performance of the council in encouraging economic development was lower than expected.
The 2005 Annual Community Satisfaction Survey for Local Government achieved a result of 62 per cent, marginally lower than the council’s goal of 64 per cent.
However, residents were generally satisfied with their own current work situation.
The survey showed council met its goal of 75 per cent of residents.
Council’s plan to adopt an Economic Development Strategy was not met in the designated time and the target was pushed back.
