THE new Dingley Arterial road link will improve traffic flows around Greater Dandenong thanks to a $74.6 million investment in the State Budget.
Once in place, the project will provide a route for motorists who want to bypass busy central Dandenong and access growing areas like Keysborough.
The 3.5 kilometre, four-lane section of road will be built east of Springvale Road and at the intersection with the Westall Road extension to Perry Road and the Dandenong Bypass.
Roads and Ports Minister Tim Pallas said the government was taking action now to invest in new roads, tackling congestion and making roads safer.
It is estimated that the new 3.5 kilometre section will carry up to 35,000 vehicles a day when finished in early 2013. Works are expected to begin by the end of 2010, generating up to 200 jobs during construction.
