THE Easternats Auto Spectacular has been burnt out permanently after Melbourne Racing Club dropped the controversial event last week.
The MRC released a statement saying they had ended its relationship with event promoter, Jon Davison, and his company Rapid Australia, for reasons they said they would not disclose.
The annual event, which attracted more than 25,000 people to Sandown International Raceway each year over the Easter weekend, held the title of Australias most successful street machine event.
This year organisers were slapped with almost $7000 worth of fines from the City of Greater Dandenong Council for breaches of the planning permit conditions.
Easternats promoter Mr Davison would not comment on the situation.
MRCs Sandown manager Wade Calderwood would not give reasons for discontinuing the popular event, but said the club had not made this decision lightly.
