Rubbish inside a garbage truck caught fire in Dandenong North.
The CFA has been unable to determine exactly what sparked the blaze just after 8am on Tuesday 22 August.
The driver pulled into the Dandenong Oasis pool’s car park and fire crews attended.
Two fire crews remained on the scene more than two hours later and the CFA issued a community information message stating there was visible smoke but no immediate threat to neighbours.
Greater Dandenong Council’s Engineering Services Director Julie Reid said contractor JJ Richards owned the truck involved.
“The quick thinking actions of the driver ensured that the fire brigade were in attendance soon after and the fire was extinguished,” she said.
“There was no injury to the driver or damage to the truck.”
