THE DANDENONG Showgrounds were full of excitement over the weekend as the Victorian Aboriginal Youth, Sport and Recreation (VAYSAR) Football and Netball Carnival took centre stage.
Over 1000 sporting stars took the field in the respective sports as part of the annual carnival with just as many supporters cheering them on.
VAYSAR chief executive Debbie Walker said 34 netball teams and 19 football teams from all over the state took part.
“Teams from Swan Hill to Warrnambool, Ballarat to Shepparton came to play,” she said.
“It is a great way to bring together Aboriginal communities.”
