MORE than 10 per cent of Greater Dandenong residents are going hungry, according to the Greater Dandenong Food Alliance.
Many people in the region do not have regular access to affordable, nutritious, culturally acceptable and quality foods, it says.
To meet the growing demand, the alliance needs prepared meals, fresh fruit and vegetables and non-perishables more than ever.
Dandenong corporate sponsors are being asked to take a swing at hunger and do their bit for the community.
On Tuesday, mayor Pinar Yesil launched a Corporate Community Day at the Sandhurst Club to be held on 26 October aimed at raising more than $30,000 for the alliance.
