POLICE used capsicum spray to subdue a 72-year-old Dandenong man armed with a tomahawk last week.
At 8.30pm on 10 December, police were called to check on the welfare of the man at an address on Napier Street.
When police entered the premises, the man approached police with a tomahawk.
Police requested that the man drop the weapon and when he refused, they used capsicum spray.
Police said the man was taken to Dandenong Hospital to undergo a psychiatric assessment.
