THE residents of a Dandenong retirement unit escaped injury on the weekend when a learner driver crashed into their bedroom.
Police had been trying to intercept the learner, who was driving a Hyundai Excel, on 12 December along Robinson St about 11.20pm, police said.
When the police switched on their lights and siren the driver turned west into Hutton St and ploughed through a fence before crashing into the bedroom, where the residents were sleeping.
Police arrested a 20-year-old Narre Warren man at the scene.
Police are currently interviewing the learner driver and expect to charge him with conduct endangering life along with other traffic charges.
