Home intruder armed with a hammer

A man has been awoken by an armed intruder during an aggravated burglary in Springvale South.

The 29-year-old victim was sleeping on a living room couch in the Altair Street home when the male burglar has forced open the front door about 2.25am on 28 August.

When the intruder opened the living room’s sliding door, the awoken victim asked who it was.

The victim noticed a hammer-like implement in the intruder’s hand, Greater Dandenong CIU detectives say.

A 44-year-old occupant came out of her bedroom, challenged the burglar and followed him out the front door.

He told her to get back inside the house and walked away from the scene.

Any information to Greater Dandenong CIU on 9767 7487 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
