Draw suits Stars- Noble Park’s Skilyevic Milomir, left, evades a Brandon Park

THE Southern Stars are counting their lucky stars after they scraped a 2-2 draw against Heatherton United at Bosnia and Herzegovina Centre.
Heatherton attacked hard from the outset and scored first from a handball penalty, and then went up 2-1 at the half-time whistle.
Stars coach Dean Hennessey admitted his team was experiencing an off day and was thankful that Berkhan Sakaci (two goals) could find the equaliser with 10 minutes remaining.
“It was a comedy of errors,” said Hennessey. “Whenever you come from behind late in the game and force a draw it feels like you’ve gained a point rather than lost two.”
With 10 minutes left Hennessey was content to let the game roll out to a draw rather than attack for the win.
“Normally in that situation I would attack and try and get the win but we hadn’t played well all day so I thought a draw was justifiable,” Hennessey said.
Hennessey will next week face his old club the Eastern Lions who are returning from a 3-3 draw against DANDENONG CITY at Frank Holohan Soccer Reserve.
The offensively driven match frustrated Dandenong coach Tony Dorotic who is annoyed that his players are accepting draws as a good result.
“We’re accepting draws as a positive thing but given the quality of players we have on the park it is unacceptable,” Dorotic said.
SOUTH SPRINGVALE is quickly making its mark on State League Division Three, this time defeating the Peninsula Strikers 4-1 at Centenary Park and jumping to the top of the table.
Also in Division Three NOBLE PARK UNITED bounced back from their first round loss to beat Brandon Park at Parkfield Reserve while SPRINGVALE CITY gave up a 1-0 lead at half time to lose 2-1 to the Waverley Wanderers at Ross Reserve.
In State League Division One the SPRINGVALE WHITE EAGLES came from a goal down to draw level with North Geelong Warriors.
