Run over twice by car

By Bridget Cook
IT was a double case of bad luck for a woman in Noble Park North last week, when she was run over by her own car, twice.
Paramedics were called to the scene just before 5.30pm on Wednesday 24 November.
Paramedic Craig Brooks said the woman was incredibly lucky despite the unlucky chain of events.
“We were told that the 37-year-old thought she had put the handbrake on as she got out of her car, but it started to roll backwards down the driveway and knocked her over,” he said.
“She said that the car ran over her lower abdomen and legs before crossing the street, hitting a fence on the other side of the road, bouncing back and running over her again.
“The woman said she couldn’t move after being crushed the first time.”
Mr Brooks said the woman had pain through her hips, her right leg and ankle.
“We had concerns that while there were no major open wounds, she may have been bleeding internally,” he said.
“We used pads, and bandages were used to dress a number of grazes on her body and she was given an oxygen mask to help her breathing.
“A drip was placed into her arm and she was given fluids to help stabilise her blood pressure.
“It was also used to give her pain relief medication which helped take the edge off it.
Paramedics fitted her with a neck brace and a spineboard was used to move her from the road in case she had suffered a spinal injury.
She was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious but stable condition.
