Organised by the Springvale Asian Business Association (SABA), the Springvale Lunar New Year Festival will run between 8.30am and 9.30pm.
With free entry to all ages the festival is an alcohol-free family event, with musical performances, cultural dancing, various Asian cuisines and a fireworks presentation.
The event location has changed and is now between Springvale Road and Warwick Avenue, located in the near-by car park.
The New Year celebration will present various attractions throughout the day including performances, musical entertainment together with the Victoria Police band and a fashion parade.
Events co-ordinator Tom Huynh said the festival is a multicultural event, and open to all ages.
“Donations towards the Queensland and Victorian flood relief will be accepted throughout the day,” he said.
Images of the Springvale gateway will also be shown to the community, in recognition of receiving government funding.
“The gateway which would be located between Buckingham Avenue and Windsor Avenue will be a landmark for the Springvale shopping centre; any support towards this partition is appreciated,” he said
SABA originated from 1989 and is continuously supporting community activities.
