Police have released images of two men they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
The driver was at the intersection of Kallista Road and Tricia Avenue, Springvale, about 9pm on Friday 21 January when he was hailed down by three men.
Leading Senior Constable John Melhuish, from Frankston Embona Armed Robbery Taskforce, said two of the offenders distracted the victim by ordering at the window, while a third man entered the van through the driver’s door.
This man was confronted by the Mr Whippy driver, and the offender then produced a knife and demanded cash.
The driver handed over an amount of cash before the three men ran off towards Emerald Drive.
One of the men was described as African appearance, aged between 18 and 20, was wearing baggy blue jeans, royal blue T-shirt and black adidas cap and he was armed with a large blade kitchen knife.
Another man is described as being of African appearance, aged between 16 and 18 years-old, wearing navy or black jeans and dark t-shirt with shaved, short hair.
The third offender was of Islander appearance, solid build, was wearing a cap, and had a tribal tattoo on his left forearm and an unknown tattoo on his right arm between the shoulder and elbow.
