Buildingconfidence

By Bridget Cook
THE new Dandenong Government Services Office taking shape in central Dandenong will be the main topic at the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association.
The project general manager Phil Lydeamore will be the guest speaker at the meeting to present more information about the new building on Tuesday 1 March, at The Ramada Encore Hotel, 50 McCrae Street, Dandenong.
Grocon commenced development in November 2009 on the commercial office building that will provide accommodation for four government departments, Department of Human Services, Department of Justice, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and Department of Planning and Community Development.
The site is located on the corner of Walker and Thomas streets, Dandenong, and is the first of the commercial developments for VicUrban’s Revitalising Central Dandenong project.
Completion of the building is expected by November.
DRTA chairperson Roy Aspinall encouraged all retailers to attend and learn more about this important subject.
“This is an exciting new building which is creating a great deal of interest now that it is taking shape and Phil Lydeamore will provide Central Dandenong retailers with details on the building and the important impact it will have on Central Dandenong and, especially, the immediate area surrounding it,” he said.
General meetings commence at 6pm and conclude about 7.30pm.
Tea and coffee is supplied and the meetings also act as excellent networking opportunities.
Meetings are also generally attended by the council, Victoria Police and VicUrban representatives to report to members and answer queries.
“All retailers are invited, be they members or not, but we do hope that if you are not a member then you will take the opportunity to become active in your community,” Mr Aspinall said.
