UNIVERSITY of the Third Age Dandenong is combining an art and craft show with its annual general meeting and throwing the doors open to the public.
U3A Dandenong president Shirley Constantine said the community was invited to enjoy the fantastic display of arts and crafts, created by U3A Dandenong members, and enjoy an afternoon tea.
“This is where we really get to show off what we can do,” she said.
“There is a fantastic display of watercolours, oils, pastels, calligraphy, fabric painting, patchwork, parchment craft, and gardening.”
The Dandenong branch of U3A was started in 1994 and is now one of the biggest seniors groups in Greater Dandenong, with over 30 courses and 500 members.
“It’s really a very important organisation for older people and they make quite a few new friends,” Ms Constantine said.
“We’ve all kind of different things which cater for all different people and you can move around for different classes and make friends for life.”
The U3A art and craft show and AGM will be held between 10am to 4pm on Tuesday 27 September at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre, 18-34 Buckley Street, Noble Park.
