NOT even the at-death hitting of Rizan Mawzoon was able to get Noble Park across the line against Bayswater as the Bulls came up short by a wicket.
Mawzoon came in at 6/118 and struck some big boundaries to finish 27 not out as the Bulls set Bayswater 8/158 to chase.
Earlier in the innings, Dirk Vandergert made the Bulls’ best score of 36 as he watched wickets fall around him before getting dismissed off the bowling of Tim Emmett.
Mawzoon backed up his batting to take the first-over wicket of Julian Russell and bowled well throughout the afternoon to attain figures of 1/38 off nine overs.
Bayswater continued to accumulate the required runs, with Mark Collins (44 not out) and Darryl Stranger (33) reeling in the Bulls’ target off the second last ball.
The pick of the Noble Park bowlers was Marasinghe Perera, who snared 4/18 and made a run out.
Noble Park will travel to Box Hill on Saturday to play a two-dayer.
