An honour to cap them all

By Jarrod Potter
DANDENONG Panthers and Victorian Bushrangers pace bowler James Pattinson looks likely to earn his first baggy green this morning.
Pattinson, 21, originally from Doveton, should receive his cap after injuries to regular front liners Mitchell Johnson and Ryan Harris made space for the young quick to make his debut against New Zealand at the Gabba.
It will be a bowling attack laden with Panthers, with Pattinson likely to take the new ball with Dandenong team-mate Peter Siddle if selected.
In the 12-man squad, which will be finalised today before the 10am start time, Pattinson is squaring off against Queensland quick Ben Cutting and New South Wales youngster Mitch Starc for one of the two available pace spots in the side.
Pattinson has played two one-day internationals for Australia, making his debut in April against Bangladesh and playing on tour against Sri Lanka in August, as well as two Twenty20 internationals, against South Africa last month.
From nine first class matches for Victoria, Pattinson has taken 32 wickets at an average of 28.21.
His older brother, Darren, played one test match for England in 2008.
