DANDENONG had a comfortable win over Camberwell on Saturday before narrowly going down to Prahran in the one-day semi-final on Sunday in spite of an ambulance full of injuries.
Tom Donnell and Darren Dempsey kicked off on Saturday morning by thumping the boundaries around Shepley Oval. Donnell raced to 84 before snicking one to the slips.
Dempsey added 14 to his overnight score to get to 51, before he had his pegs rearranged, leaving him 42 runs in arrears of 10,000. The second innings didn’t amount to much, with Camberwell 5/138 at stumps. Dempsey said the win was set up through last week’s endeavour.
In Sunday’s match, Donnell and Brett Forsyth struck 99 before Donnell (63) was wrapped on the pads and given out LBW. Forsyth (51) and Nanopoulos (30) added 57 for the fourth wicket.
A bit of late order hitting from Mick Sweeney (32) got the Panthers to 9/240cc Dandenong rallied in the bowling, but couldn’t hold out and Prahran went past them with two wickets in the bank.
