NOBLE PARK students have achieved personal bests in the international Maths Olympiad held recently.
Noble Park Primary School entered the Olympiad earlier this year, contested by more than 23,000 students from Australia, New Zealand, Pacific countries and Singapore.
Noble Park Primary School principal David Rothstadt said the results, which arrived last month, were amazing.
“I am very proud of our students and teachers as they have finished in the top 10 per cent of all teams participating, receiving an outstanding achievement award,” he said.
“Ten students were in the top 10 per cent of all students, while a further five finished in the top 25 per cent.”
Mr Rothstadt said the competition would help develop students’ mathematical skills.
“The students have five tests, each consisting of five questions, which test their problem solving abilities.
“Schools form teams of up to 30 students and they train just like a sport team, exercising their brains on a range of problems and the development of strategies.”
These kids are smart, do the maths
