Police are desperately searching for a vehicle with a baby on board that was stolen from Keysborough.
The white 2013 Toyota RAV 4 with tinted windows and registration 1HS 5OZ was taken from Putt Grove about 1.20pm today (1 March).
Police were told that an adult got out of the still-running Toyota when an unknown man got in the driver’s seat and drove away with the 11-month-old baby inside the vehicle.
It was last seen travelling east on Cheltenham Road near Corrigan Road, Keysborough.
The man was described as Caucasian, 50 to 60 years old, about 178 centimetres, with a skinny build, short brown hair and brown facial hair.
He was wearing black shorts and without a top. He was carrying a red item of clothing, police say.
Police were carrying out an extensive search with the Air Wing and multiple police divisions, Inspector Fiona Halford said.
“The parents are quite distressed. Police are looking after them … but as you can imagine when your 11 month old baby is missing, they’re quite distressed.”
She appealed for public information to find the vehicle and the man.
“We just want to make sure the baby is safe and well. We have the utmost concern for the baby’s welfare.”
