CHASING a total of 321 for victory over Oakleigh on Saturday, Noble Park fell well short to be dismissed for a measly 181 in their Victorian Sub District Cricket Association.
With last Thursday’s rain affecting the Warrawee Oval wicket, Noble Park struggled with the lively pitch to lose Andrew Brown, Rod Douthie and Karl Brown with only 41 runs on the board.
Dean Edmunds and Paul Hill proceeded to get the innings back on track, reaching the tea break with the score 3/110 off 39 overs.
The partnership was broken soon after when Hill was caught behind for 21. Sanj Weerasinghe departed soon after and when Edmunds was caught and bowled by Pinwill for 63 the total was 6/133.
Andrew O’Meara and Michael Todd added a further 15 runs before Todd departed.
Lance Baptist joined O’Meara and took the total to 169 before Baptist was out caught.
Matt Crozier and Sean Schubert were both dismissed lbw to see Noble Park all out for 181, with O’Meara not out on 25.
The club’s second XI recorded a good win against Oakleigh, dismissing the team for 224 to win by 7 runs.
Lyle D’Rozario took 3/23 and Shane Smith, on the back of his 57 with the bat the week before, claimed 2/45.
Noble Park’s third XI struggled on a wet wicket to be dismissed for 167 after Oakleigh made 226 the previous week.
Deepjot Singh top scored with 36, while Nirosh Fonseka, Andrew Love and Travis Bird each made 20.
The fourth XI was dismissed for 95 in its first innings, with Justin Hart top scoring with 31.
Asked to bat again the side made a better fist of it, reaching 4/128 at stumps with Chris Leahy reaching 57 not out and Don Willatgamiwa making 45.
