A HAMPTON Park man was killed in Dandenong after he was hit by two cars last week.
The 43-year-old was crossing Princes Highway last Monday (13 February) about 6.20am when he was hit by a car.
He was then hit by a second car and died at the scene.
Senior Sergeant Alan Dew from Dandenong Traffic Management Unit said the man was wearing dark clothing and crossing three-lane traffic.
“Particularly after dark, pedestrians need to wear light clothing and be careful near traffic, particularly on multi-lane highways,” Sen Sgt Dew said. He said drivers also needed to beware of pedestrians crossing the road in unexpected places, particularly now that the mornings were getting darker.
“It’s not just drivers, though. Pedestrians are responsible for road safety as well,” he said.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or were in the vicinity at the time.
Police are also searching for an orange Nissan 350Z.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
