Speed business building

SMALL businesses battling for market share against larger companies may be asking, where’s the love?
The City of Greater Dandenong’s Business Development Unit has heard the call, and has announced a speed networking night for small business owners to come together and build the foundations of intimate – yet strictly professional – relationships with others.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, 22 August will be part of the Greater Dandenong on Show business celebration that falls from 9 August to 24 August.
The format will be similar to the speed-dating phenomenon where participants network one-on-one for a few minutes at a time.
Organiser from the Business Development Unit Paula Brennan said speed networking was fast, furious and fun, and was a new initiative of the City of Greater Dandenong to help small businesses network more efficiently.
“It’s time efficient and businesses get to meet in a one-on-one situation rather than having to walk up to people in a room and not knowing anything about them.”
Ms Brennan said BDU staff would carefully peruse the evening’s applicants and match them with other businesses that they could form relationships with, saving the awkwardness of networking with a competitor. Business trainer Sue Neale from the BBL Group will be on hand to give an interactive presentation on networking techniques.
The evening will be iced with drinks and nibbles, an informal networking session afterwards, and a complimentary ticket for each participant to the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce business networking breakfast.
The speed networking event will be held on Wednesday, 22 August between 4pm and 6pm at the Business Development Unit and costs $25 per head.
Bookings are essential and can be made by calling Paula Brennan on 9238 1550.
