Fire probe

FIREFIGHTERS are investigating a blaze that gutted a Springvale house in the early hours of Monday morning.
Springvale CFA firefighter Jamie Maclean said fire engulfed a weatherboard single-storey house on the corner of Lee and Edinburgh Streets, Springvale.
Firefighters were still on the scene hours after the blaze, attempting to determine the fire’s cause.
“It pretty much gutted the whole house,” he said.
“But we contained it to the house and it hasn’t spread to any other properties such as next door.
“We’ve done well to contain it to the structure as it was going quite well when we got here.”
