SPRINGVALE Police used capsicum spray to subdue a teenager waving a machete this week.
Police said the incident took place in Rosalie Street at 9.30pm on Monday after they had been called to a report of a dumped stolen Tarago van.
When police arrived the vehicle was empty, but they waited nearby and watched three people return to the van and get back inside the vehicle.
Police then approached from each side and as they did, the driver, a 14-year-old boy, pulled a machete from the driver’s seat on one of the police officers.
Police used capsicum spray then arrested the driver, another 14-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl.
The driver, from Springvale, will face Children’s Court at a later date charged with theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped to steal, and weapons offences.
Police will caution the other two over the theft.
