A MAN died while trying to cross the path of an express train in Springvale just days before Christmas.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the 35-year-old Bayswater man’s death at the Springvale Train Station crossing at 6.55pm on 21 December.
Police believe the 34-year-old Bayswater man was attempting to cross the tracks on foot while the lights and bells were activated.
The man started crossing after a train had passed but failed to notice the express train that was approaching from the other direction.
Ambulance officers were called to the scene but were unable to revive the man.
Greater Dandenong Traffic Management Unit police diverted traffic from the Springvale Road scene for two and a half hours.
Police are still investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and will prepare a report for the coroner.
